Bond Girl 007 - the new fragrance from Avon

Filed under: Fragrance, Celebrities with Style

Bond girl Gemma Arterton

We know all about James Bond's brand preferences: he wears an Omega watch, drinks Bollinger champagne and drives an Aston Martin DBS. But what of the Bond Girls? For years they've been a mystery.

Why aren't you wearing this? La Mer Paris Charm Watch

We know, we know -- you probably don't need to wear a watch anymore because you can always check the time on your cell. However, we still love them as a fashion accessory, if nothing else. And, maybe we're a tiny bit old fashioned, but it seems a lot more ladylike to subtly glance at your wrist for the time, rather than hauling out your BlackBerry.

That being said, if you're going to get a watch, but not need to wear it with everything, look for something you really love. We, personally, really love this La Mer Paris Charm Watch, available at Urban Outfitters (online only -- don't go to the brick and mortar!) for $95.

Tip of the day: LV's Emprise collection finally available -- Yippee!

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News, Style Tip of the Day

Finally,
the long awaited Marc Jacobs "Emprise" collection of watches for Louis Vuitton is available.

And what a long wait it was! Jacobs began working on the concept in 1997 but went back dozens of time to perfect the watches. It took the designer over ten years to get the final look to anxious LV customers. The faultless collection is done in black, white and gold and [some are] encrusted with diamonds so that wearers can incorporate it into their life as a timeless, heirloom piece.

Want a sneak peek? The "Emprise" collection was worn by models during the recent Louis Vuitton ready to wear runway show for Fall 2008.

The last pendant watch

We all have The One That Got Away. That one piece that, if only you'd had the cash on hand, if only you'd bugged your mom a little more, if only your Visa wasn't maxed out, would have made your wardrobe -- nay, your life -- complete. Ours was a swimsuit we found at Goody's (!!!) in the 7th grade. That is, until we went to Urban Outfitters one fateful day a couple years ago and stumbled on a tiny watch on a long silver chain, like a miniature stopwatch, with a blue and pink cloisonne top. Suddenly, we were in love.

We love funky necklaces here at Styledash, but the Charming Tiny Clock necklace available on Urban's website for $28 is probably the closest reincarnation to that cloisonne miracle.....at least, that we can afford. (We're looking at you, Marc Jacobs.) Here's hoping this one doesn't get away from us before we can save our poor-kid pennies for it.

Zinedine Zidane launches limited edition IWC watch

If you don't know who Zinedine Zidane is, you are missing out. Not only is he a fabulous soccer player, but he's hot. Because sometimes headbutting is hot. And it turns out the slightly violent futbol star has another side to him -- he's also into fashion, or at least watches.

Why aren't you wearing this? Offset Squares Watch

We love accessories that seem basic, but have a devilish twist to them. You know what we mean -- the necklace with the surprise detail at the clasp, the shoes with something a little offbeat on the sole -- you have to look a little more closely to pick up on exactly what's so interesting, but once you do, you have a new appreciation for the item.

Twelve great graduation gifts

Besides weddings, the most popular activity for June weekends seems to be high school and college graduations. Along with lifting a toast to grads at all the parties, it's also nice to acknowledge the effort that went into actually getting that degree with something lasting.

A thoughtful gift can be big or small, personalized or humorous, expensive or simply a gesture. The important thing is that it reflects something of the recipient, and your feelings for him or her.

There is a wide, wild and wacky world of gifts made especially for graduates, as well as some traditional, classic items. We've got the full range, from sweet tokens to sinful luxury in the gallery.

Get Mom out of a style rut with these gifts

When we were wee little girls, our moms helped us define our sense of style. Sometimes they bought us that fabulous candy necklace we'd been eying at the dime store, once in a while they let us experiment with their makeup, and occasionally they let us pick out our own outfits for school and allowed us to leave the house wearing leg warmers, shorts, and a sweater because it was helping us figure out who we were.

Now is your chance to help Mom out. Is she in a style rut? Often, as women age, they find what works for them and just sort of stick with it. And while you might not be ready to take Mom out for a whole new wardrobe, you can help her update her look with some fab accessories -- click through the gallery for ideas.

TKO Watches: Put some color on your wrist

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News, Clothing, Men

Spring turns to summer and the world is full of color, and so forth and so on. Why not make your wrist a part of the action?

These colorful watches from TKO Orlogi were created to inspire the artistic, the creative and the unique. They wanted something fun, simple and different that separated them from the crowd. You know, the crowd that isn't up to par on warm weather flair, i.e., the "boring types." You know who you are. The crowd that is actually wearing their watches is okay to be a part of. It's complicated.

Why aren't you wearing this? Fossil Brown Dial Wood Watch

Some people (you might be one of them) just can't function without a watch. They put it on even before they have their first cup of coffee, and it has a special place near the bed to be stored overnight, making it easy to take it off right before going to sleep.

We have no problem with this -- it encourages punctuality, which is a great quality. However, it becomes a problem when the watch you wear is just a plain, boring, functional timepiece. We get it -- it has to go with everything. But can't it have a little style?

GlamRock watch is better than Brett Michaels

glamrock watchOf course everyone wants a ToyWatch ever since Oprah mentioned it as one of her favorite things a few months ago, but I think I found a watch that is so much better, even though it has a stupid name.

The GlamRock watch might make you think it's some sort of studded black leather band with a rhinestone skull on the dial's face that Brett Michaels would wear (if you're old enough to have had a crush on Brett like I had a crush on Brett, thank you). However, the name says "rocker," but the watch is a little more refined and leans slightly more toward the "glam" side than "rock" side with flashy wristbands, matching dial trim, and a little bit of shiny metal. I love the Miami Patent watch, shown, with its white patent leather band and black contrasting trim.

GlamRock watches are available from Saks Fifth Avenue from $900 to $2,000.

Oh yeah, maybe it's the pricetag that makes it glamrock.

You can't throw like Tom Brady, but you can tell time like him

tom brady movado watchIf you're a Patriots fan, you're probably cheering at the touchdown they just scored (we're not, we happen to be in San Diego right now). It's partially due to quarterback Tom Brady, supposedly the best player on the best team in the NFL. You may admire him, you may aspire to him, but let's face it, you will never be him. About the best you can do is wear the Tom Brady Limited Edition Movado Series 800 Watch, which is inspired by the quarterback's "impeccable timing on the field." The watch features Swiss manufacture, a textured dial, and a Kevlar reinforced XtremeResin strap.

Tom Brady Limited Edition Movado Series 800 Watch is $2,500.

Styles that Stick: Men's classic wristwatch

Filed under: Accessories, Vintage and Retro, Men

victorinox swiss army mens wristwatchThink about all of the watches you own. Now how often do you wear those watches? Is it because you don't care much for knowing what time it is or that they aren't in style anymore? I know I don't wear my watches because they are out of style. One watch that never goes out of style is a man's classic wristwatch.

There is something very sexy about a woman in men's clothing; you know that "borrowed" or "stayed the night" look. A woman in a man's white shirt is hot and same goes for a woman in a man's wristwatch.

The wristwatch was first introduced in the 1880's when woman tied their pocket watches to their wrists so they could go horseback riding. That DIY trend morphed into the production of wristwatches for women. Men thought wrist watches were too girly so they kept to their pocket watches. Just like a man to dismiss an idea because he thinks it's girly. During World War I the soldier's realized there was something to this whole wristwatch thing.

Today for men, a wristwatch is a status symbol. For women, they just look darn good on us ... plus it was our idea.

Swatch brings the voodoo love

Although as Anne pointed out earlier, Swatch watches reached their popularity peak in the 1980s, Swatch is actually alive and well as a brand. Proof of this can be found in Swatch's 2007 Valentine's Day Special, a jelly watch with bright red and black numerals and a red Voodoo doll. The watch comes with it's own Voodoo doll, an arrow with a plastic heart on it and a message card for the doll. According to Time Zone it sells for 65 euros. Swatch has launched a website for the watch with a cool little game that lets you tickle and tease a virtual valentine.
