Cute Boots That Keep You Dry

If icy weather is keeping you from your favorite leather boots, don't worry: You don't have to suffer freezing feet for fashion. You can find cute boots that are waterproof, warm, and stylish -- regardless of your size! Feast your eyes on these beauties.

Cute Boots That Keep You Dry

For the little Alaskan in all of us, check out this cute option from Sporto – waterproof, warm, and tall enough to keep the slush and snow out. In white brown or black at Planet Shoes.

If the slouchy boot craze has got you under its spell, check out these versatile boots from La Canadienne (a great company for fashionable winter boot options). Water proof, and a warm furry lining that can be worn folded down or up depending on your outfit.

Believe it or not, I went for these Sorels this season. There's a certain refined nature to their otherwise clunky existence, and you can't beat Sorel for warm and dry.

For a sleek basic black option that you don't necessarily have to change out of when you get to work, check out these ankle boots by Columbia Sportswear – light weight, très warm, and water resistant!

Or this sleek little black ankle boot by Nine West.

Also by Nine West, this fuzzy black option with treaded sole, faux lace up front and fur topper!

Check out these cool wedge boots with rubber sole – I'd wear them with cool tights and a dress just because they're so darn fashionable. By Oh Deer!

Oh Deer! also makes this lovely whiskey colored wedge option with fur lining for extra warmth.

This cute green pair is killing me (in a good way!) – why should we be stuck with brown and black all the time?

And since I can't seem to go one week without plugging the wonder that is Michael Kors, check out this gorgeous set of wine red stompers. Gripping rubber platform sole, fur-lined, great buckle detail at the top and contrast stitching -- there's nothing not to love here.

Shoes of the day - Aquatalia by Marvin K. Volt

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Must Haves

Rainy days need not be frumpy days with this high-fashion boot from Marvin K. Volt in shiny grey faux-croc leather. We'd personally be a little, oh, reluctant to step into a puddle in boots that cost this much, but they promise to be 100% weatherproof - and they say you get what you pay for, right?

Lauren Conrad's black tear: Starting a trend?

Filed under: Cosmetics, Celebrity Fashion Mistakes, Beauty Tips

Last week was hard, wasn't it Lauren? We're ready to talk about it.

It seems that all this fighting between Lo and Audrina has been getting to you, all the way to your dear blackened soul. And so floweth the Pierrot-esque black tears.

Audrina was guilty, too:

John Varvatos makes watertight rubberized Chucks

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News, Clothing, Shoes

If you've ever owned a pair of Converse Chuck Taylors, you probably noticed that they look awesome. You might have also noticed that they tend to allow water to enter freely through those little eyelets and commence to turn you shoes into a sloppy soaked mess. When John Varvatos set out to rethink Converse's classic shoes, he had at least one idea that might actually be an improvement on the original: waterproof uppers.

These rubberized Chucks not only have the advantage of keeping those summer downpours from rotting your feet off, but the rubber creates a cool semi-gloss effect. Varvatos also took the liberty of going with black leather laces and completely blacking out all features except the toe and sole. They look just a bit more stylish, yet the don't loose the old school appeal. We say: way to not screw up a classic design. Now, if he could only do something about their tendency to get stinky.

For crying out loud! Why celebrities need waterproof makeup

Filed under: Cosmetics, Celebrities with Style

There are several reasons celebrities might need waterproof makeup. They could be in the middle of a red carpet interview and end up caught in a thunderstorm. Their favorite ball team could win the title, causing them to be doused in Gatorade. They could get tossed into a tub of champagne with George Clooney (because that's surely what happens at those after-parties, right?).

More often than not, though, celebrities find themselves in need of waterproof makeup because they end up in tears for one reason or another -- check out our gallery for examples. And, to see how you can avoid a makeup disaster, check out StyleList's slideshow of waterproof makeup. You never know when you'll get tossed in a pool with gorgeous celebrities!

Tip of the day: The right way to buy and apply Sunscreen

Filed under: Skin Care, Style Tip of the Day

Little did we know there was a correct way to apply sunscreen (or swunscweam as our daughter calls it). But don't worry, we did a little detective work and figured out the 5 W's for you.

The Who and the What. Of course we're talking sunscreen here. The first step is, obviously, you want to slather it on anytime you're in the sun. That's a given. Just a tiny bit of sun exposure each day can really add up overtime. But did you know that you've got to apply 30 minutes before going outside for the best results? Yes it's true. And again each time you are active (What!? People actually do stuff other than layout on the beach?). If you have a protective hat or clothing, even better.

Waterproof makeup that doesn't need a trowel to remove

The problem with waterproof makeup is that when it works, it really works. I feel like I go through an inordinate amount of eye-makeup remover when dealing with my preferred waterproof mascara and waterproof eyeliner combo. Plus, my husband gets confused when he has to empty our bathroom trashcan twice a week just to make room for my 157th blackened ball of Kleenex. So, I figured, there has to be a solution.

And of course, Sephora is providing the answer. Sephora.com is featuring a whole arsenal of waterproof makeup products right now, all with the Sephora-guarantee that they will work as desired. Meaning, you can safely cry or run out in the rain without smearing, but at the end of the day you will also be able to revert to your au naturale state, sans-makeup residue.

I have personally tried the Dior DiorShow waterproof mascara and (because I am a lip-plumper addict) the Tarte Rise & Shine Plumping Lip Stain. The mascara was fabulous; wore very well all day without smearing or melting, and actually came off with very little eye-makeup remover. The lip stain, however, did not fare as well. Although I loved the color (I chose cherry), I didn't notice the stain lasting any longer than my lipstick usually does.

I haven't tried any of the other products listed (yet!) but when I do, I will give a full report. If you have any favorite waterproof makeup products, or have tried any of the products listed on the Sephora site, let us know! Maybe we can name an all-time StyleDash waterproof winner.
