Chanel on the runway
At the Fall 2009 Chanel show yesterday in Paris, Karl Lagerfeld, who is known for his quirky accessories (who could forget the faux-shopping bag handbags from last season), sent tightly sealed plastic cases down the runway filled with an assortment of goodies from the design house.

Odd at the Oscars

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Celebrities with Style, Celebrity Fashion Mistakes, Red Carpet Trends

The Oscars never fails to entertain and delight us, and there are always a few things that stick out to us on the red carpet as a little odd. This year, we did double takes when we saw beautiful Natalie Portman's breasts staring at us and the lovely Melissa George in her underwear. Did Matthew Broderick get guylights? And what do Mickey Rourke and Ellen Degeneres have in common? Have a look through our gallery to see.

Odd at the Oscars

    Matthew Broderick
Matthew, honey, we know you expected all eyes to be on SJP's voluptuous curves, but dude -- ditch the "guylights" and give them to Hannah Montana (whose dress was great, but whose hair was surprisingly lackluster).

    Phillip Seymour Hoffman
We know it wasn't cold there (shoot, Jennifer Aniston wasn't even niptacular), so why was he wearing a hat? We're assuming he went in for guylights with Matthew Broderick and was less thrilled with the results.

    Freida Pinto
We know you're new to the red carpet, but here's the thing. Nancy Kerrigan called, and she wants her skating costume back. Sorry.

    Natalie Portman
Well, she might not follow you around the room (or maybe she does, what do we know?), but the magic eyes on her breasts do. Yowza.

    Amy Adams
Statement necklaces are huge, but this one is huge enough to pull double duty as a bib. And just in case it missed anything, the dress came with a handy dandy tucked in napkin. You know, because actresses always eat at these things, right?

    Heidi Klum
She missed her workout that morning, but got one in by wearing 60 pounds of bracelets on her arm. Hey, when you're a wife, mother, supermodel, TV host, and entrepreneur, you have to multitask!

    Melissa George
She loved her underwear so much, she decided not to wear the dress. We've all thought about doing this, and now we're glad we didn't.

    Mickey Rourke
We're animal lovers here, for sure, but Mickey pulls a total Ellen with his puppy love pendant. Oh, who are we kidding? We just about teared up with him. Or for him. Not sure which.

    Beyonce
Beyonce Knowles gives Scarlett O'Hara a run for her money in this curtain-esque print, complete with valance ruffle. But even running wouldn't make Scarlett this bootylicious!

Crazy on the Catwalk - Will Guys Wear This Stuff?

The Good, the Bad, and the Weird ... Fashion Week is always filled to the brim with outlandish styles from designers hoping to inspire the latest craze, or at least grab their share of the spotlight. Here we have a few of the more -- um, how should we say this -- eccentric looks from Milan and Paris.

Runway Rejects - Guys: Would You Wear This?

    McQueen's Crotch Protector
From the white makeup, to the the fur-lined jacket with the billowy sleeves, and on down to the mantyhose -- there's not much here that we can apply to ready to wear street style, except perhaps the subtle codpiece. If you're going to wear a codpiece these days, it better be subtle. Very subtle.

    Emporio Armani's Fur Bearing Mammal
First off, blue fur? Really? Wearing a full length fur coat along with wrap-around sunglasses puts you in an elite class with only one other member: Kid Rock. If you're comfortable with that, by all means go for it. Not to mention, if that is authentic fur from the endangered blue yak, PETA's not going to be happy.

    McQueen's Goth Gladiator
While Gladiator was a very inspiring movie, and lots of celebs are sporting bulletproof clothing these days, is this Roman-esque body armor a fashion statement that the average man is ready to make.

    Prada's Space Travler
The one good thing we can say about this look is that it seems very comfortable. The monotone look always makes us think of b-movies about space travel. In other words, we liked this look better when when it was featured in the sci-fi cult classic Logan's Run.

    Emporio Armani's Man Shawl
The man shawl may be a bit unusual, but we think it definitely find it to be one of the better looking weird designs. One part cape, one part jacket, the man shawl is kinda cool. But would you ever wear it in public? We tried shortening the name, but mshawl is awkward to pronounce.

    Prada's Stud Muffin
Look, we love punky studded jewelry as much as the next guy, but there's really no excuse for ever wearing that many metal rivets outside of a Sex Pistols tribute concert, is there? Plus, what's up with that headband? Doesn't it deserve to be covered with metal spikes too?

    Etro's Cape Crusade
This look isn't crazy bad. In fact, the combination kinda resembles a young Mick Jagger. Here's the question: if you wear a cape and you are not a.) a superhero, or b.) an opera singer, are you c.) a douche?

    McQueen's Blankethead
There's something about this look that we really like -- and then something we don't. On the plus side, this somehow reminds us of late 60's spagetti western Clint Eastwood. Then, there's the fact that he's wearing a blanket over his head, but under his hat. That looks like something William Rast would come up with.

Betsey Johnson Loves Red Lobster

Betsey Johnson is so crazy.
So we were at Fashion Forward on November 10, 2008, loving the heck out of everything Betsey Johnson sent down the runway (as detailed in our Betsey Johnson Totally Blew Our Minds post), when this happened (above). WTF, Betsey? We didn't know you were such a big fan of Red Lobster.

Fashions from Bizarre-O World: eye jewelry

(Click on the photo to see more eye jewelry)

Tired of boring old earrings? Think facial piercings pase? If you're ready for a new way to bejewel your body but can't stand the thought of being traditional, here's a look for you:

Eye jewelry.

Created by UK artist Eric Lauren Beck, these odd adornments are actually hanging from contact lenses. While a little grotesque, we think these are surprisingly (and strangely!) compelling. The question is: are they cute enough to wear...or just a little too creepy?

MANties: Panties for dudes, kind of

Filed under: Swimwear and Lingerie, Men

You ever noticed how when your girlfriend is out of town, and you try on her silk panties and frolic around the house, that -- while it's fun and everything -- they just don't fit right, you know, down there?

Oh, so you don't know what that feels like? Uh. Right. Of course you don't. And neither do we.

But if you were ever curious, it appears there's an easier option for men who "want to be and feel a little special, naughty, and very sexy." Introducing MANties. Apparently these frilly undies are designed specifically with guys in mind -- with "extra room where you need it, for the most comfortable fit there is."

Gallery: MANties

So if you're into something softer around your manly bits, this might be just what you're looking for. Though, even if these are technically made for guys, we wouldn't recommend telling anyone that you're wearing them. Even if some runway designers are promoting mankinis, we're not sure the world is ready for dudes in lacy lingerie.

Agyness Deyn is going to detox to save her good looks

Amy Winehouse isn't the only Brit squandering away her talent and good looks on drugs and alcohol. It seems another celeb from the other side of the big pond is always having some trouble staying away from the dark side. Agyness Deyn is reported to be doing a crash detox in order to save her good looks.

Anna Wintour is a cougar

Who's hotter -- Andy Roddick or Roger Federer? We're going to go with Roddick on this one because we've been secretly in love with him ever since he started dating Mandy Moore. But, Anna Wintour would beg to differ. The cougar in her has been set free and it looks like she's still trying to get her paws on Federer.

La Wintour had made plans to fly to Florida and watch the Sony Ericsson Open last week. But, then when Federer was knocked out of play earlier than expected, she mysteriously canceled her trip.
