Halloween Crafts: No-Carve Decoupage Pumpkins

In Random Recast, I find new ways to upgrade the ordinary things in our lives. And this week, it's all about pumpkins.
Today is a new twist on pumpkin decorating, thanks to a cool decoupage treatment. Decoupage is one of those crafts, by the way, that sounds way harder than it actually is. All you're doing is gluing bits of paper to an item (in this case, dictionary pages to a pumpkin), then sealing the covered surface. Yes, you can use a special decoupaging product like Plaid's Mod Podge, but I honestly use a mix of three parts glue to one part water. Easy, cheap, simple and doesn't require an extra trip to the craft store. (And because you're sealing the pumpkin, it'll last for weeks without falling apart.) Instead of dictionary pages, I plan on using images from my old 1965 World Book encyclopedia. Flags of the world, anyone?

I remember Halloween, way back when--back home in a small town, and as a child--the smell of pumpkin-Jack'o'lanterns scent wafting through the cool autumn night-time air. This brings back wonderful memories.
