Last night's Jimmy Choo for H&M launch party was one star-studded (and high-heeled) event.

Jimmy Choo's founder and president Tamara Mellon hosted the fête along with Jeffrey Katzenberg to support The Motion Picture & Television Fund at a private residence in the Hollywood Hills.

While the collaboration won't hit stores until Nov. 14, lucky guests including Hayden Panettiere, Kate Walsh, Olivia Wilde, Angela Lindvall, Sheryl Crow and Maggie Grace all got an up close and personal preview of the highly anticipated capsule collection.

In addition to Mellon's famous heels and women's accessories at wallet-friendly prices, she also designed women's apparel and for the first time ever, a collection for men, which includes shoes, bags, accessories and clothing.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's Dualstar Entertainment Group has signed a deal with Steve Madden Ltd. to produce shoes for the twins' new Olsenboye collection which will be sold exclusively at JCPenney.

The shoes, targeted to the junior market, range in price from $40 for the "Venice" canvas flat to $100 for the "Hailey" boot, a combat-like lace-up.

Other styles include "Sofia," a platform heel with ruffle T-strap for $60, "Lara," a studded sandal for $50 and "Rio," a gladiator-type sandal for $50.

The Sofia ruffle shoe and Hailey combat boots will be available on JCPenney.com and in select stores starting November 6.

The rest of the Olsenboye styles will roll out in February.

"Steve and his team are very excited about the opportunity to join forces with Ashley and Mary-Kate to create aspirational, trend-right fashions at affordable prices," Edward Rosenfeld, Steve Madden's chairman and chief executive officer, said in a release.

Madden is no stranger to JCPenney. His company also manufactures shoes for the chain's Fabulosity line.

Stiletto maestro Christian Louboutin recently visited Washington, D.C. to sign his famous red soles at Neiman Marcus in Tysons Galleria shopping center.

Aptly, the shoe designer talked politics when it came to his first visit to the nation's capital:

"For eight years I was invited, but I never wanted to come before. I never wanted to come with Bush. I'm looking forward to coming back -- at least for four years," as reported in the Washington Post.

Not one to be press-shy, the outspoken Frenchman didn't stop there, "I would hate for someone to look at my shoe and say, 'Oh my God! That looks so comfortable!' That's not what I want to project. But I'm not a sadist," Louboutin told the newspaper. (Quelle horreur!)

Adding, "I don't believe suffering makes you beautiful. But comfort is not part of my creative process."

Job well done! When we see his heels, we think costly not comfy. (But we'd still skip a month's rent to buy a pair.)

Yes, we know. You didn't blow your rent money on an amazing pair of Louboutin pumps just so you could stare at them while you walk around barefoot.

But according to a new study, taking off your shoes when inside is healthier than leaving them on, as reported by The Daily Express.

Researchers from the University of Arizona, who have reported their findings in the Environmental Science and Technology journal, determined that 60 percent of dust comes from outside and is most commonly brought inside via the soles of our shoes, according to the paper.

(Yes, even those divine red Louboutin bottoms.)

And while dust may sound like something you can live with, the study reportedly found that shoes can track in dangerous poisons and pollutants such as arsenic and lead, posing a significant risk to children and pets.

So maybe it's time to turn your entryway into a makeshift shoe closet. After all, there's a lot we'd do for our Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik heels, but making our kiddies or kitties sick just isn't one of them.

New Year's resolutions aren't really our thing, but that doesn't mean we intend to kick off 2010 on the wrong foot.

Which is why we're mopping up puddles of drool after getting a sneak peek at the hot new footwear designed by none other than Nicole Richie.

The fashionable starlet, whose highly anticipated ready-to-wear collection Winter Kate makes its debut early next year, has added footwear to her popular House of Harlow 1960 accessories line, according to a press release from My-Wardrobe.com, which will exclusively sell the shoe line online in the UK come January.

And judging by the these photos, it's going to be one very happy New Year.

Shoe expert and author of "The Perfect Fit: What Your Shoes Say About You," Meghan Cleary will debut a new footwear line in collaboration with ShopNBC today (Oct. 29) as part of the channel's Beauty and Style Week.

The Miss Meghan Shoe Collection is launching with a suede 2.5-inch heel ankle bootie, available in plum, black and brown for $45.

Cleary, aka Miss Meghan, shared the magic of the bootie with StyleList.

StyleList: Why did go with the bootie for your first style?
Miss Meghan: Booties are so hot right now and I wanted to do a version that was on-trend, fun and wearable.

SL: What makes this bootie unique?
MM: A lot of ankle booties can be unflattering because of the cut of the silhouette. Mine were specifically designed to slim any size ankle or calf and give the appearance of a long line.

SL: What's next from the Miss Meghan Shoe Collection?
MM: I'll be launching a micro collection in December, which will feature ballet flats, platform pumps and shoe clips. Spring 2010 has a ton of nude in snake, croc and patent, as well as some pops of color.

When we first spotted Suri Cruise wearing sparkly silver high heels while strolling around Boston back in September, we figured the adorable daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes was probably just emulating her fashion plate mom or simply playing dress-up.

But, now, it's starting to look like shoes with height are a staple in Suri's wardrobe, and even her footwear of choice. She wore the silver pair again on Oct. 11, and, today, she was seen sporting a pair of glitzy gold T-strap heels.

And, so, the debate rages: Is it appropriate for a 3-year-old to wear high heels? According to StyleList poll results, 42 percent say yes, it's dress-up, while 30 percent feel that 3 is too young, and 28 percent think it's fine, but not in public.

Shoemaker to the stars Giuseppe Zanotti recently visited Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City to meet his customers face-to-face, take pictures with them and autograph the soles of their Zanotti heels.

Before one of his biggest fans Blake Lively arrived (and clusters of hyperventilating teens started gathering in the 8th Floor shoe department), StyleList got a chance to sit down with the Italian footwear designer -- who was wearing red,white and blue Nikes -- for an exclusive chat.

StyleList: You began designing shoes 25 years ago and you do hundreds of designs every season. How do you stay inspired?
Giuseppe Zanotti: When I start to design shoes, I think in terms of concepts. I write things down and I take pictures on my BlackBerry -- maybe of the leg of a chair that I like -- and send the shots to my assistants.

I don't believe in seasons and I don't design shoes like "Harry Potter" -- Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3. It's just the same woman who needs some new energy for herself.

The Trend: Over-the-Knee Boots

There's a fine line between street style and streetwalker, and this look definitely straddles the two.

Fashion followers know that lots of designers -- Marc Jacobs, Prada and Louis Vuitton among them - sent models stomping down fall runways in really tall, really sexy boots.

And, now, with celebs from Halle Berry and Victoria Beckham to Maria Sharapova and pretty much every model out there wearing them regularly, this high style is the season's must-have.

But can regular women pull off the look without looking like Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman?"

What I Wore: There are a variety of tall boot options - flat or studded stiletto heels, plain or covered in fringe, rhinestones or buckles, the list is endless. Black is the most popular color, but grey, beige, brown, purple and (yikes!) red are also available.

I started with Chinese Laundry's "Turbo" in black leather ($79.95 at DSW). With a one-inch wedge heel and an elastic panel; they fit fuller calves and can be cuffed for a below-the-knee look, too.

I then graduated to Via Spiga's gorgeous "Leona" stretch suede boots ($498 at viaspiga.com). With a half-inch platform and three-and-a-quarter-inch heel, they ooze sex appeal.

Gucci just launched a new app for the iPhone and iPhone Touch today. The fashion house is clearly having a tech moment, as this comes on the heels of its new social media site, Gucci Eyeweb.

The release coincides with the GUCCI ICON-TEMPORARY project, a traveling sneaker store which opens on October 24 at 43 Crosby Street in New York City, before moving to Miami on December 1. Then it heads to London and Tokyo in the spring.

It is also the only place you'll be able to land a pair of limited edition sneakers designed with DJ, musician and producer Mark Ronson. The sneakers, called Gucci Ronson, are available for $530.

Other exclusive content includes videos, fashion shows, latest collections, news, events and store listings.

But the most progressive feature is called Gucci Beats, which lets you mix your own music tracks on a virtual turntable.

Choose and layer your bass, drums, vocals, synths and effects and you'll be able to create a kickin' loop and record it to play for friends or share via email and Facebook.

Last night, Jessica Simpson and Ken Paves attended the QVC and FFANY Shoes on Sale event for charity. And while we definitely wanted the dish on Simpson's famous hair, we couldn't help but ask what celeb stylist Ken Paves would do for Kate Gosselin's famous 'do:

"Something a little bit less disconnected and drastic," he said, without hesitation.

StyleList: So, more like a bob or a shag? Something totally different?

"No, I like it," Ken replied. "A little bit more fluid, a little bit softer, a little bit more feminine. I think she's beautiful and she has a great figure after 8 kids!"

And how does Jessica keep her hair so fabulous with all of the constant processing?

"Not washing [her] hair as often, good shampoo and conditioner," he told StyleList. "I also love Moroccan Oil, olive oil is an amazing conditioner."

But luck also has something to do it, as Ken cites Jessica's "girl-next-door tangibility" as the key to her great hair.

"That's her hair, we don't try to make it anything it's not, it's just really beautiful, flowy hair."

How lucky is that?

We just had one final question--are any of Ken's other celebrity clients getting a little help from his famous hair extensions line? (Jessica is a fan, and co-creator.)

"I use my extensions on everybody, you know--Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria, I do some great things for Gaga, Victoria Beckham, all my girls. I pull out all the stops!

The event, which Simpson hosted, was a big success for benefitting Breast Cancer awareness. "Both my grandmothers suffered from Breast Cancer. One was a survivor and one wasnt," Jessica told QVC correspondent and "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style" co-host Grechen Monahan.

So when QVC approached Simpson with the idea of a charity shoe sale, she jumped at the chance. "I mean, I'll make a shoe for it, of course! This is everything I'm about."

Louboutin -- the latest fashion designer to give the plastic icon a makeover (others have included Diane von Furstenberg, Anna Sui and Givenchy) -- has revamped three Barbies from "top to toe," reports WWD.

"They're completely wild and even come with mini Louboutin boxes for the shoes," a Louboutin spokeswoman told the paper.

And apparently he's spending a little extra time retooling her plastic cankles (or is it "Bankles?"). "He found her ankles were too fat," the Louboutin spokeswoman told WWD.

We asked fashion stylist and fashion director of NYLON magazine, J. Errico how he'd style our favorite doll to help reduce the appearance of her so-called problem area.

"If Barbie wants to divert attention away from her ankles, she should avoid booties or anything with ankle straps," he says. "However, any girl -- plastic or not -- would be mad not to take advice from Mr. Louboutin."

We wonder if Mattel would agree.

We hit the Trump Plaza in NYC today for a press conference on Dina Lohan's new shoe line.

Dubbed "Shoe-Han," the brand is a collaboration with Long Island, NY-based LoveMyShoes.com.

But as soon as blonde, tan Dina Lohan walked in, she was ready to set us straight on a crucial miscommunication: "The line is not called 'Shoe-Han!'" she insisted.

Whether or not the name -- coined by the brand's publicist -- sticks, we're happy to report that all of the shoes will be under $100, and the collection will launch around Mother's Day 2010.

That said, let's get to the fun stuff.

Things we didn't know about the Lohan ladies:

  • They all wear the same size in clothes (which, if Dina and Lindsay are any indication, is a zero). Lindsay lent mom a sparkly vest, black Ungaro mini and even suggested some black leather YSL boots for the shoe launch. "My kids dressed me," Dina explained.

With all due respect, "Frost/Nixon," sometimes we prefer our political plays with a little more... sole.

You know. Less presidential backbiting and political intrigue, more presidential costume changes and intriguing fashion. Is that too much to ask?

Apparently not.

New York City's Pan Asian Repertory Theatre is answering our prayers with its new Off-Broadway production, "Imelda: A New Musical," based on the trials, tribulations and togs of Philippines' former First Lady Imelda Marcos, The Wall Street Journal reports.

The play, which debuted earlier this week at the Julia Miles Theater, follows Marcos as her husband (the late Ferdinand Marcos) rises to power, as well as the accusations of corruption that plagued his rule, the paper reports.

Still, the star of the show is Imelda Marcos' legendary footwear collection, which reportedly totaled nearly 3,000 pairs.

Though, Jaygee Macapugay, the actress who plays Imelda, only goes through a relatively modest eight pairs of shoes over two acts, another 20 pairs serve as props, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Things were looking a bit grim for Crocs.

First, the footwear brand appeared to be in serious financial trouble when its stock price plummeted. Then, the plastic clogs were declared a fashion no-no for Yom Kippur.

But, alas, brightly-colored plastic shoe lovers can rejoice -- Crocs has secured a $30 million revolving loan with PNC Financial Services Group, as reported by Reuters.

The company's chief financial officer, Russ Hammer, tells the site that this loan will provide the company with the cushion it needs to bounce back from the downturn.

And since you can't mention Crocs -- certainly not orange ones -- without thinking of chef extraordinaire Mario Batali, we were beyond curious to know what the perma-Crocs wearer had to say.

Batali told StyleList, "Their sheer comfort will always overrule fashionistas, religious fanatics and banking doomsayers. Crocs is here to stay."

Looks like the recession is turning a corner. Check out other fashion companies that are on the uptick.

When you think of a hotel suite, you might think of style, but you probably don't think of fashion.

The Presidential Suite at the Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach in Florida is an exception, as it boasts a wall of "shoe art" paying tribute to former First Ladies and other worldly dignitaries.

The almost 2700-square-foot suite -- which can be yours for $4,000 to $6,000 a night -- includes a nightly bath butler, and, as we found upon visiting, an under-lit onyx bar and stunning views of the Atlantic, which pale in comparison to the gorgeous display of shoes created by Miami designer Robert Tabor.

Michelle Obama's shoe will make its debut on January 17 (the First Lady's birthday); just a few days prior, the Obamas will celebrate their first year in the White House. As you would imagine, Mrs. O's shoe steps up the style quotient.

Like Mrs. O., the lemongrass-colored lace shoe is high-fashion, channeling her Mrs. Obama's dress at the Presidential Inauguration.

Embellished with a velvet and jeweled bow and an "Obama '08" campaign button at the toe, it also showcases a column inspired by the White House architecture, as well as a graduation cap and insignia from both Princeton and Harvard Law.

Also prominent is a family portrait, accented by a red, white and blue ribbon and Mrs. Obama's First Lady campaign button.

To symbolize humility and humanity, leather is out on Yom Kippur. But, now plastic sandals may be banned on the holiday, as well.

Lithuanian Rabbi Elyashiv has ruled Crocs should not be worn on Yom Kippur because "they are too comfortable -- so they don't provide the level of suffering one should feel on the holiday," according to a story on ynetnews.com, the English-language sister-site to Israel's largest news and content site.

The ruling from the influential rabbi could pose a challenge for many Jews, who have favored wearing the shoes at synagogue services in recent years, Ynet says.

We can't help but pose this question: Isn't wearing unsightly Crocs in public suffering enough?

They're chunky. And studded. With buckles. And platforms. Oh, and straps. Lots and lots of straps. Nope, these shoes certainly would not be described as delicate or girlie or sweet. Fashion's favorite fall shoes makes a powerful statement.

"Details are very important when shopping for great shoes," says "Project Runway" winner Christian Siriano who has a line with Payless. "I think fabric, shine and color always help shoes stand out. I also think that hardware like chains, buckles, studs and beading are essential for a statement shoe."

Gregg Andrews, national fashion director at Nordstrom, says that women are looking for things to incorporate into their existing wardrobes that will make their older items look fresh and new. But they also want something that brings a little power with it.

"While women want to look feminine and, often, sexy, they don't really want to look fragile, and a lot of these shoes have a lot of strength to them," Andrews says. "And I think there's a lot of that feeling of strength in the '80s trends that are going on."

Christian Louboutin's new Los Angeles boutique

To celebrate the opening of the second Christian Louboutin boutique in Los Angeles, the shoe designer extraordinaire decided to celebrate with a short film instead of a fancy Olsens-studded soirée.

The result is "Psycho-Logic," Louboutin's writing and directorial debut, which centers around a very Hitchcock/"Psycho"-inspired plot, but with the new Louboutin store on Robertson North playing the creepy Bates Motel and the main character getting attacked (or perhaps just presented?) with a sharp-heeled pump instead of a knife. (Um, we could deal with that!)

After the shoe encounter (courtesy of Louboutin himself, in a grim reaper outfit), the star of the short, model Elisa Sednaoui, finds herself moving from a nightmare situation to a dream (and from black-and-white to color), when she stumbles down the stairs into the glittering Louboutin boutique and fondles a wide array of insane red-soled glam rock heels.
