CELEBRITY FASHION MISTAKES

Celebrity Fashion Mistakes

With teams of stylists and access to the top designers, celebrities have all the tools they need to look red carpet ready. But when it comes to choosing the best outfit for their body types, even stars make mistakes. Designer Bradley Bayou tells us when they got it right and wrong.

    JULIA ROBERTS: THE WRONG LOOK
This dress does nothing to broaden Julia's shoulders, which is necessary for triangle shapes in order to balance their shapely bottom halves. The straight shift doesn't define her waist, making her seem bottom-heavy and imbalanced.

    JULIA ROBERTS: THE RIGHT LOOK
The draping scooped neckline of this dress gives the appearance of broader shoulders and makes Julia's waist seem smaller by balancing her lower-body curves. The slightly flared skirt flows over her hips creating a long lean line.

    DEMI MOORE: THE WRONG LOOK
The waistband on a dress like Demi's here would normally define her rectangular shape, but the excess fabric adds weight and hides her balanced shoulders and hips. The result? A shapeless silhouette.

    DEMI MOORE: THE RIGHT LOOK
The sweetheart neckline and cap sleeve on this fitted dress widens Demi's shoulders while the ruched skirt and princess line detailing add curves and give the appearance of a smaller waist. These two elements balance Demi's shape, achieving an hourglass silhouette.

    JESSICA SIMPSON: THE WRONG LOOK
This could possibly be Jessica's worst look ever. Her challenge is to keep her broad shoulders and wide hips balanced while defining her waist. To start, the cap-sleeved turtleneck adds weight to her upper body. The pants are totally wrong the pockets offset the natural balance of her shape and the high-waist cuts her body in half.

    JESSICA SIMPSON: THE RIGHT LOOK
What a difference! With a belt defining her waist, the ruffled top and A-line skirt of this pretty dress keep Jessica's proportions balanced. Even her strappy shoes help elongate the vertical line of the body, making her seem taller and perfectly proportioned.

    REESE WITHERSPOON: THE WRONG LOOK
Reese always looks great, and this gown is no exception. However the shade is a little too close to her skin tone. A bit more color would really make her glow!

    REESE WITHERSPOON: THE RIGHT LOOK
A sweetheart neckline paired with a ruched skirt and ruffled hem balance Reese's top and bottom, while the defined waist gives her that coveted hourglass figure.

    JENNIFER LOPEZ: THE WRONG LOOK
This dress is ill-fitting at the hips and the shiny fabric picks up light, both factors that accentuate Jennifer's wider bottom half. The unstructured top does nothing to create a strong shoulder line, which would balance her silhouette.

I have a really strange question...
Why did Jennifer Lopez wear that dress in the first picture?
What demented her to wear such a thing?
It looked like a cowgirl that had thrown on some wet dog hides.

Something that I find to be rather questionable would be the timeline issue some of the photos...It is no secret (though it is no terribly newsworthy to say) that DB has lost weight since that dreadful green dress...but why not say ? Also, what would be wrong with suggesting a good bra for her either. Too many need that advice.

Who is commenting on these? the 2nd dress Oprah was wearing that they said was right was pulling open on her chest- too tight on her upper arms and had pulls from her chest to her shoulders-- YUCK! Completely ill-fitting on the top.
And the 2nd Jessica Simpson "right" outift was horrible too-- those shoes CUT her leg line with that ankle-strap and the dropped ruffled shoulder straps added width to her upper body and the huge belt completely cut her in half- she looked much shorter in that outfit than she did in the pants. The main problem w/first outfit was the poor color choices. who is picking these outfits??

Usually I see these as just an excuse to bring celebs down a notch, however this series was REALLY helpful for once! I LOVE the way each mistake was explained according to the body shape and followed up with a picture and explaination of the more flattering fit... THANK YOU!!!
