PHOTOS ARE NOT RETOUCHED

In this makeover, Eve sought to even out the model's skin tone and enhance the stunning shape of her eyes. Before applying any foundation or concealer, she applied the eye makeup, giving the model an elegant smokey eye, complete with false lashes. (Watch a video on how to apply false lashes here.)

After applying a dark dual-toned foundation using her innovative Reverse Contouring technique (learn more about the method here), she used a salmon-hued concealer to cover the hyperpigmentation around the model's mouth and under her eyes. She then set the makeup with a dual pressed powder to ensure a long-lasting application.

This isn't a great look. It is the same look that I've seen on brown women over and over again.

The make up technique is perfect, and obviously everyone has different taste on what they should look like. xo to Eve.

the camera flash washes her out a bit, but otherwise her skin looks great!

I think she looks great! It's obvious that the flash is making the makeup appear brighter than it is. The finish is flawless!

Which color? Before and after what?
05:22 PM on 08/22/2011
The eye makeup is spot-on, but the foundation is too light. Perhaps just a little under-eye concealer was all that was necessary.

WTH! I was expecting to see a wide array of different shades of women of color. We are not one shade fits all. And this model's foundation is too light. Women of "color" needs to use foundation made for women of color, otherwise they look like a ghost.

Hi, It a "series" there are several 'women of color", just take a minute and look...several different shades. hope you find them. LMK.

Personally, I take offense to putting every woman of color in one box...I have been doing my own make up for years. I do have to admit that there has been alot of improvement in that area but please, I use my own judgement, not someone else's idea of how I should look.

First of all the title is "Women of Color Before and After" and you only have one woman. Then you show us a lovely model that had a wig slapped on her head. What was wrong with her real hair? Then you mess up her skin by smearing it with the WRONG color foundation. Then you glue lashes on her eyelids when she did not need them. This entire story is more Huffington Post junk. I wish AOL would switch their news provider. If you are going to show us a makeover of One woman of color, please do not make her over to look like she has no color at all.

Coming from an African American woman, this model only needed undereye concealer, and spot concealer (blended with a blending brush or finger) and loose powder (to control oil). It is not ALWAYS necessary to cover the entire face in foundation. Especially when a person has ok skin as she does. The eyebrows shoud have been left alone as well. And please, stop putting brown lipstick on black women! We CAN wear more colors than burgundy and brown! Lol!

Put me down as another person who thinks the makeup is too light.

I have no sensibilities to offend.

Of course, the after pic has her looking 4 shades whiter and brighter.

She is a beautiful girl and make up is just an enhancement for natural beauty. I'm just disappointed that in 2011, with all of the make up options out there for women of color, that they didn't choose one that matched better. That shade is too mulled and clay toned.

Good for you. I hardly wear makeup any longer. My daughter lead the way. She said she was happy with her looks. Well, I decided to be happy with mine too.

I agree that the foundation color is off. Her complexion was beautiful (minus the oiliness and minor flaws) in the before picture. I hate wearing foundation for this very reason. But, whats a ghyrl to do?!
