Spring's Hottest Makeup & Beauty Trends
Candy-Colored Lips
"This trend is a fun one for women in their 20s and 30s with medium and darker skin tones," says makeup artist Carmindy who shares makeup tricks and tips every week on TLC's 'What Not To Wear.' "For a more daring approach," Carmindy continues, "swipe on a fuchsia, hot coral or violet lipstick on an otherwise bare face. The color alone will make your spring statement so skip the harsh lip liners and use a Q-tip to soften edges. For those of you who want to play with this trend without feeling over-the-top choose a sheer lip-gloss in one of these shades to achieve a more wearable look."

Suggested Product
Paul And Joe Beaute Lip Gloss in ?Honeydew Orange.? ($18)
Nude Lips
"This is a safe bet for women of all ages with fair skin," Carmindy points out. "But to keep it current choose nude colors with a bit of shimmer to pump up the illusion of volume. Pair it with a flushed cheek and a sweep of chocolate brown liner for a slight 60s retro feel."
Suggested Product
Bourjois Effect 3-D Lip Gloss in "Les Nudes." ($15)
Pink Lips
"I love this trend because all women can wear pink and it just looks so appropriate in the springtime," says Carmindy. "If you have fair skin choose peachy pink or light cool pinks, for medium skin tones go for rose pinks, for olive skin try coral pinks and for dark skin go for bright berry pinks."
Suggested Product
Pout Lip Polish in ?Horny Hilda.? ($16)
Red Lips
"This trend is seasonless, ageless and for all skin tones but for spring think about a lighter approach," Carmindy advises. "Go for red gloss, sheer red lipstick or red lip tints so the upkeep is minimal and it will look fresh during the hotter months." Carmindy adds, "I like to pair this look with a soft pinky peach cheek and lots of black mascara."
Suggested Product
Body and Soul Sheer Lipstick in ?Fever.? ($18)
Flushed Cheeks
"This is a universal look and will make any woman feel young and fresh." Carmindy suggests, "For women in their 40s, 50s and beyond, go for a cream blush formula in a rosy pink shade and swirl on the apples with your fingers. If you feel like you have used too much simply buff down with a dry non-latex sponge."
Suggested Product
Vincent Longo Water Canvas Blush in "Savannah" ($42.50)
Metallic Eyes
"I love this trend for the extra wow factor at night," Carmindy explains. "Dot on a little silver shimmer on the center of your eyelid or swipe gold, bronze or copper across your entire eyelid from the lash line to the crease." She adds, "When playing with this look keep the rest of the face natural and minimal so you don?t over power your look."
Suggested Product
Benefit Show Offs in ?High Roller.? ($16)
Full Eyebrows
"Stop with the over-plucking," Carmindy suggests. "Brows look better when they are full this season but keep them groomed. Pluck the uni-brow section and under the arch and then leave them be." If your brows grow in skimpy,"Fill them in with a little brow groomer for a healthier effect."
Suggested Product
Paula Dorf 2+1 For Brows ($12)
Bright Eyeliner
Carmindy recommends this trend for younger women. "This bold trend is best with teens through 30s no matter what their skin tone. If you?re on the younger side choose two shades to play with, using one shade on the top lash line and one on the bottom," Carmindy says. "For a slightly more sophisticated look, use only one shade of eyeliner in an opposite color than your eyes to really make them 'pop.' For brown eyes use sapphire eyeliner, for green eyes use amethyst eyeliner, for brown and hazel eyes use emerald eyeliner."
Suggested Product
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils ($15)
Extra-Long Lashes
"All ages can master this look and it is easier than you think," Carmindy assures. "Buy a strip of falsies at your local drugstore and cut them in half. Use only the smaller half of the strip and add the glue to the back. Use enough so it is sticky but not dripping in glue. Then adhere the falsies to the outer half of your lash line. When they are dry cover up the seam with black liner and then sweep on black mascara so they all blend together."
Suggested Product
Andrea Mod Lash ($3.49)
Bright Nails
"For the minimal makeup wearer you can always go bold with your nails this season," Carmindy points out. "Use bright colored nails like an accessory to play up your look. Try bright corals, hot pinks, metallic, and shimmering nudes."
Suggested Product
Deborah Lippman Vinyl Nail Polish in ?Make Me LoveYou.? ($15)
