Natasha Khan of Bat for Lashes
Natasha Khan released her critically acclaimed third studio album, The Haunted Man, in October 2012. The tracks were inspired by The Enchantment of Art, a book recommendation from her former art teacher. “I’d felt quite disenchanted myself and needed to find the magic again,” says Khan about how the story influenced her music. “I was trying to navigate fresh waters and find something new to say with the third record, and a lot of the book talks about getting back to nature's sacred spaces and about communal, collaborative activities.” We can hear this inspiration translated into songs like “Lilies” and “Deep Sea River”—her eerie, howling vocals give us the chills.
