Sarah Jessica Parker
Hair texture type: "She has a great head of baby-fine hair," says Ouidad, eponymous founder of the curl-oriented salons and product line (ouidad.com).
Going curly: "As the years go by, the curl pattern loosens," she says of the actress. To shape curls on hair like Parker's, Ouidad recommends using a hydrating deep conditioner in the shower to prevent frizz. Then apply a light leave-in gel, with botanicals and collagen, such as Ouidad Tress Effects Styling Gel , to wet hair to smooth the cuticle and help shape the curl. "For more waves, apply the gel to bigger chunks of hair with your fingers. For a tighter curl, apply the gel to smaller sections of locks," says Ouidad. Let hair air-dry or use a blow dryer with a diffuser attachment just near the scalp.
Making it straight: Prepare hair with a leave-in conditioner like Curlisto Repair Styling Cream , says stylist Christo, the self-titled "King of Curls". Blow dry hair until just dry, and then divide into eight sections and set it in 2-inch hot rollers, starting from the nape of the neck. Roll the top layer of hair toward the back. Spritz rolled hair with a finishing spray, such as nonsticky Suave Professionals Touchable Finish . Remove curlers and part hair as desired. Run fingers through curls to separate. Spray on a nonoily finishing serum like Citre Shine Mist. "If you want a pin-straight look, then simply use a flat iron to smooth curls,&uuot; he says.
