What Shade Are You?
To pick the best hue to flatter your skin tone, take a look at your bare lips. “If you go to that color family and then play with the tints and tones in that range, it will always work,” says Jenn Karsten, director of education for Make Up For Ever.
As a general guideline, corals and roses look best on light to medium skin tones, pinky browns and plums work on medium to deeper olive skin tones, and wines and mochas look great on darker skin tones, Karsten says.
To give the sheer formulas more staying power, Karsten suggests applying a colorless lip primer (Try Simply Vera: Vera Wang Lip Primer $32.50) or filling in your lips with a matching pencil before putting on your lip color.
