When it was announced earlier this week that Carrie Underwood was the newest global brand ambassador for Almay, we jumped for joy. We love Carrie -- and her style, so the addition of this ambassadorship simply added to our adoration. StyleList spoke with Carrie after the announcement to find out why Almay was the right brand for her and much more!

StyleList (SL): Tell us a little about why you wanted to partner with Almay?
Carrie Underwood (CW): "I've always used Almay products, from early on in my makeup wearing life to now. I love the approach they take to makeup, they truly do think as I do, that every woman has these special qualities -- it's not about covering it up."

SL: What kind of makeup do you like to wear?
CW: "I love great staples, things that make my skin feel good. I love makeup I can play with, fun & shimmery makeup. My life is about performing on stage and dressing up. My makeup plays a big role in my performance."

SL: When were you first introduced to makeup?
CW: "I was first introduced to makeup through my sisters, they were teenagers and I was really young. There are some pretty amazing pictures of me as a four-year-old getting into their makeup. I'd tease my hair and use their aqua net. From a very young age, I just loved it."

SL: A part of the reason Almay chose you as a global ambassadors was your relatability. Why do you think people are so comfortable around you?
CW: "I'm a normal person, like I live in Nashville with my husband. I have this really cool job, we don't have 20 houses, I don't drive a fancy car. All of the companies I've worked over the years, have been companies where I've used and liked their products. That's why this partnership is such a great thing. We all want the same thing."

SL: What's the one product you can't live without?
CW: I love the Almay Lip Balm and their new CC Cream - the colors are really easy to choose from. I've wasted so much money going to the store and buying things that are orange on my face. These products just work."

Carrie will join Kate Hudson as the brands global ambassador and will be promoting their new 2014 launches. As the face and voice of Almay, she will appear in global, multimedia campaigns spanning television, print, in-store, digital and social platforms.
