October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month (in case you were wondering why our logo is pink!) and we're very passionate about this cause. Nearly everyone knows someone who has suffered from breast cancer -- whether as a patient, parent, child, or friend -- and it's a disease we need to eliminate for good.
One of our favorite organizations fighting this deadly disease is The Pink Agenda, a not-for-profit organization "committed to raising money for breast cancer research and care, as well as awareness of the disease among young professionals." TPA believes that today's generation is apt to make the largest impact on finding the cure for tomorrow. They've recently aligned with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation as the "milennial young patrons arm," working together to throw a gala on October 4th that we're sure will be both fabulous and productive. Other companies committed to helping TPA are Magnolia Bakery, with their Power of Cupcakes campaign, and Erica Sara Designs' Charms for the Cause collection. During the month of October, Magnolia Bakery will donate $1.75 to The Pink Agenda for each Pink Ribbon cupcake (pictured above!) sold, offered in all of the NYC, Chicago and LA stores. Erica Sara Designs will donate 20% of proceeds from their Charms for the Cause collection (year-round!) to TPA, and if you add the charms to a necklace, they'll give an additional 10%.
All-in-all, we see it as a win-win situation. You get a delicious cupcake or a gorgeous charm and part of the proceeds go to fighting one of the worst diseases women face.
