Thanksgiving is this week, people! You know that means, right? Yep, holiday party season is officially upon us. Between work functions, family parties, and social events with friends, we're sure you have tons on your calendar for the next month. We know how crazy it can be, so we're here to help you get a little more organized.

A lot of events seem to happen right after work, so one tip we have is to do a daytime makeup look that can easily transition to a party look–because who wants to carry around a bunch of extra products? To this end, we played with Smashbox's Photo Op Eye Shadow trios and gave our very own Nora a day-to-night makeover.

We were really inspired by all the blue eye makeup on the spring runways, so decided to see if we could make it work in real life. Here's what you need:

• Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer (to ensure the color stays put all day)

• Smashbox Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio (there are 16 palettes to choose from–we went with Light Speed)

• Mascara

• Eye shadow brush

• Eye liner brush

• Neutral lipstick for day, something kickier for evening

We applied the primer first–apply a few dots with the applicator, then smudge in with a finger–to give the shadow extra staying power. We then gave Nora's entire lid a wash of Butter up to the brow bone. Then we swept Peacock over the lid and flicked it out past the corner of her eye for a little extra pop (if you're going to go blue, you may as well really go for it). We added a few coats of mascara and a neutral lipstick and–voila! Daytime.

To make the look transition to night, we kept the above base, but added a wash of Azure into her crease and lid, and smudged. Then we used a wet liner brush and added more Azure to the lashline, beefed up her mascara, and went with a darker berry lipstick. This transition step took us a mere five minutes–it's so easy to do at your desk before you head out.

If you're not comfortable winging it with makeup, each Smashbox Photo Op Trio comes with handy "Get the Look" instructions on the label on the back of the palette. Follow the directions for your day look, and then use a heavier hand with the colors at night for a more concentrated wash of color. Then go out and don't think about it again, because it's going to look great all night!
