We did a piece a while back on our favorite Hollywood couples throughout history, and Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck definitely made the list. Now, while they individually have a gazillion gorgeous photos on the red carpet, the story featured 3 shots of each couple, and it was next to impossible to find more than one or two photos of the duo together (that weren't paparazzi shots).

As we learned pretty quickly, this is a conscious choice they've made through the years. And in the cover story of Allure's September issue, Jen tells us exactly why:

"Sometimes it's a pain because my heels are so high and it would be nice to have his arm. And he's such a great date! But it can be too much. I think especially for women, they can really lose their identity and just become 'wife of.'" So Jen decided she doesn't want to just be seen as Ben Affleck's wife. And while that's a dreamy title to have, we totally respect their decision to keep their private lives out of the spotlight as much as they can and Jen's desire to remain independent. When it comes to the red carpet, they really focus on their careers and we love that about them.

Interestingly enough, Jen also dished on why she's not interested in doing a movie with husband Ben: "Really, you don't want to see a couple onscreen... People see paparazzi shots of us together all the time. There's no mystery.... People are sick of us."

Her interview with Allure is honest and funny, and oh yeah... this mother of three has never looked better! Check out the full interview and slideshow of Jen's photo shoot here.
