The plane carrying late designer Vittorio Missoni has been found, just off the coast of Venezuela. After 5 days of an extensive deep-water search and months of investigating, the found plane brings sadness yet closure to the high-profile family that has been heartbroken over the events.
The Missoni family released a statement Thursday: "The families thank the Venezuelan government and the Italian government for the effort in having made this search possible. They are confident that the investigation will follow through to the ascertainment of the causes and the responsibility for the accident."
Along with Missoni, the plane was carrying his partner Maurizia Castiglioni, two friends and two crew members. Missing since January 4th, the family had originally thought -- and even hoped -- that the missing plane was due to a kidnapping. As of now, the cause of the crash is still unknown. Authorities are working on how best to retrieve the wreckage.
