Rachel McAdams is the cover star for Allure's August issue, looking bare-faced and beautiful (aka everyone's ideal beauty look for the heat of the final month of summer!). She's promoting a new film A Most Wanted Man, in which she stars with the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, but she also dishes to the magazine about her early acting days.

First, let's revisit one of the greatest chick flicks of all time -- Mean Girls. It was rumored that Lindsay Lohan was intimidated by McAdams on the set of the film, but Rachel said, "If anything, I was in awe of her talent. I looked at her as this experienced actor, and she had great comedic timing, so natural. It's just funny to hear that because you never know what people are thinking. We all try to act like we've got it together."

Rachel stole our hearts in The Notebook and was the perfect villain in Mean Girls, but she started out with her big debut in The Hot Chick. "I remember standing backstage, dressed like a mechanic. I had a pink bikini on underneath, grease on my face, and I just remember breathing deep and thinking, Oh, my God, I have to go out there and do this striptease, as a man... as a woman. How did I get here? It was probably one of the scariest moments I've had in my career."

The best part about her as an actress? She always keeps us guessing. "Sometimes you want to meet people's expectations," she said, "and sometimes you want to go beyond them."
