She quickly corrected her use of the past tense, "Is a style icon, not was. I meet all these designers who are like 'Punky was totally my inspiration.' And I'm like, 'Yes!'"</p> <p>"Punky Brewster" even serves as the catalyst for Frye's own store, <a href="http://thelittleseed.com/" target="_hplink">"Little Seed"</a> and a Target collaboration of the same name. "It's all bright, colorful and organic," she explained, "Very 'Punky' colors." In her everyday life, Frye adopts a similar palette, "I love color," she explained, "and I love black. It's there to let us know where that individual piece comes from and where it was stitched together. Most of the time, that little tag will read "Made in China," "Made in Taiwan" or "Made in India." It is rare that your new sweater, jacket, top or pants were manufactured here in the U.S., even though this may be the designer's homebase. </p> <p>In 1960, 95 percent of all clothing sold in America was made here, according to <a href="http://savethegarmentcenter.org/about/" target="_hplink">Save The Garment Center.</a> Now, that number has decreased to about 5 percent, a significant drop in domestic fashion production. While millions of jobs have been lost due to outsourcing, there are still many brands that feel it's important to keep their manufacturing stateside. </p> <p>In fact, <a href="http://savethegarmentcenter.org/" target="_hplink">New York City is home to 846 brand headquarters</a>, many of which still reside in the Garment District (where American fashion was truly born). Nope, according to the actress herself, her smile was totally toothless until age 11.</p> <p>In a new interview with Britain's newspaper The <em>Sun</em>, <a href="http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/features/article4319080.ece" target="_hplink">Theron reveals that she never had "milk teeth,"</a> a Britishism for baby teeth.</p> <p>Theron <a href="http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/features/article4319080.ece" target="_hplink">apparently had jaundice as a baby,</a> which required her family to put her on a hefty course of antibiotics. Her teeth rotted as a result, and they had to be removed, leaving her with "fangs" that had to be cut out of her mouth.</p> <p>"That was tough, you know, being in school having photos taken while I was pretending I had teeth.
