Was it ever in doubt that the shrewd, beautiful and (can we say bitchy?) New Yorker Irina Shabayeva would take the $100,000 prize and be named Season Six winner of "Project Runway?"

From the first episode, the judges fell hard for her sophisticated, edgy and impeccably constructed looks. Even her ousted competitors named her the designer to beat.

It was no different on last night's season finale, when Shabayeva sent a showy trail of urban black down the catwalk and managed to win, while defiantly ignoring judge Nina Garcia's stern warning not to produce an "all-black" collection.
Now that's confidence.

StyleList caught up with Shabayeva this morning as she shuttled between television interviews that were part of her post-victory media tour.

And lest you think that Shabayeva made only enemies this season, hear this: She watched the finale at a New York City cocktail party she and her parents hosted along with finalists Althea Harper and Carol Hannah Whitfield!


Since she was pressed for time, StyleList offered congratulations and jumped right into questions.

StyleLIst: You kind of got the bitch edit.
Irina Shabayeva: I'll say.

SL: Was that fair?
IS: You know, it's a show. They need to create characters through editing. After awhile of watching the season, though, I was like, okay, I got the memo, I'm playing that role. It got a little old for me. I am really not that mean. What you didn't see was me being nice, which I am capable of... Just as an example, when Carol Hannah was sick and we were getting ready for Fashion Week, I gave her one of my models. She was short a model and needed help. I called the agency and got someone else for my show. You didn't see that. But I wasn't there with making friends as my first priority. I am not against friends, but I had other goals.

SL: You said your winning collection was meant to signify shelter and security for urban women. But I viewed it as a statement about your own vulnerability.
IS: Then you read it correctly. Certainly, I was speaking to a woman I understand, but It was also a statement about how vulnerable I felt being on "Project Runway." Being judged like that makes you feel extremely insecure. Week after week, all that judging can make the most confident person feel kind of awful. I designed it in New York when I was back home from LA, and that was kind of where my head was at. I felt extremely vulnerable and I was creating something that felt protective.

SL: "Project Runway" has had some success in producing designers with staying power, but not consistently. Any idea why?
IS: It's a reality show and fashion is a business. I viewed being cast as a contestant as a business opportunity. Anybody who assumes because you are on, or because you win that your career is going to take off is being naive. You have to do the best with the opportunity. I have to take the opportunity now and make the most of it.

We thought Ashley Greene was the most gorgeous gal on the Twilight red carpet last night.

And no surprise that it was celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson who created the gorgeous updo (who, shhh, happens to be at StyleList HQ today filming some top secret videos with us - but more on that later).

Here's Gibson's lowdown on Ashley's gorgeous look.

STYLELIST: What are your tips for creating Ashley's look?

Ted Gibson: "Start off with a really good blow dry using Build It blow drying spray at the root to create ultimate volume. Apply Hairsheet styling on the rest of the hair then blowdry. To create that sexy texture, curl strands with a large barrel curling iron set on medium heat. Place hair into ponytail and finish with Tame it Shine Lotion for added texture and lightweight shine."

STYLELIST: How do you work with her extensions?

Ted Gibson: "Clip ins are the best. It is a piece that gives hair fullness and length for that perfect ponytail that every girl dreams about."

STYLELIST: How do you keep Ashley's hair healthy?

Ted Gibson: Goodnite replenishing hair repair serum is a perfect way to keep hair in good condition and scalps in balance

STYLELIST: What's your preparation like on a day like this, and how long does it take to do Ashley's hair?

Ted Gibson: "It takes over an hour to create sexy, voluminous hair."

In the new year, there will be a new shade of Huge Lips Skinny Hips, a brownish-berry with slightly pink undertones called Goji Berry Smoothie. The shade perfectly matches the exotic superfruit, which I mix in a smoothie with coconut water every morning.

It also comes with my secret family recipe, which, I guess, will no longer be a secret once it's out.

To pay homage to the shade, I invited F.O.P.L. (friends of Purple Lab - bloggers and Tweeters) to moonlight yoga at the chic Tribeca loft of my teacher Libby McGinley, a spiritual goddess who gave up her career on the runway and the cover of French Vogue for a life of Oms.

The best part of Libby's teaching is that it's not strict-Nazi yoga, but more gentle, fluid, relaxing. And her approach is meditation oriented, complete with soothing voice and a little chanting. To keep the mood peaceful, the Didge Project, a group of three cute guys (the type who wear Thai fisherman pants and have that effortlessly cool scruffy hippie hair cut most people pay Sally Hershberger $700 to get) who play the didgeridoo, a wind instrument made from hollow wood used in ceremonies by Australian aborinal tribes 40,000 years ago.

The sounds are earthy and cool, mellowing, the kind of thing you'd like to hear in a spa. But live! The guys walked through the space, playing the didgeridoo over everyone's body, which has a healing effect. They busted out some African djimbe drums on top of it, creating the most amazing music (we all learned how to play after and then they demonstrated the didge-hip-hop!).

Afterwards, Organic Avenue delivered delicious goji berry smoothies (a mix of banana, coconut milk, and goji berries) and my friend Rebecca Sharzer from Home Grown Love whipped up raw, hand-made goji berry chocolate truffles (no sugar!).

With our yoga, didge, chocolate and smoothie high, Linda Lauren, a renowned celebrity psychic, did readings for everyone by interpreting their hand writing (she said a Purple Lab TV pilot would happen in the near future! I hope she's right.).

It was a night the Dalai Lama would have approved of. Om to that!

South Korean model Daul Kim was found hanged in her Paris apartment on Nov. 19. She was 20 years old.

The prosecutor's spokeswoman told Reuters that police were investigating the cause, saying it was most likely suicide.

"She was a top model and a great friend to all of us at Next," her agency said in a brief statement. "Please respect her family's privacy at this time of sadness. We will all miss her very much."

Daul modeled for top designers including Chanel, Dries Van Noten and Alexander McQueen, and was seen walking in September's Spring 2010 shows. She also recently appeared in a Christopher Kane for Topshop commercial.

The 5-foot-10 model was a painter, filmmaker and had a blog called I Like to Fork Myself. Her final entry, dated Nov. 11, was titled "say hi to forever," and featured a YouTube video of the song "I Go Deep" by Jim Rivers.

Consummately chic Carla Bruni Sarkozy proves her great sense of style knows no (international) boundaries.

During a trip to the Middle East earlier this week, the model/chanteuse/French First Lady toted a black leather Gucci bag with bamboo handle to the Shafallah Center for Children With Special Needs in Doha, Qatar.

Bruni appropriately covered up her top half with a grey shawl, but we wonder how the Qataris felt about her rather revealing choice in skirt.

Kate Moss is feeling a bit of remorse.

After being slammed by eating disorder experts for her now infamous quote "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels," the model is feeling the heat from her inner circle including Topshop owner Sir Philip Green and boyfriend Jamie Hince, reports the Daily Mail.

Green thought Moss' comment was out of line, especially since the supermodel's line for Topshop is targeted toward young women. Hince, meanwhile, accused his girlfriend of speaking before thinking, adds the source. (Ouch!)

With pressure coming from all angles, Moss' team went into damage control mode and issued a rather robotic statement: "For the record - Kate does not support this as a lifestyle choice," the paper reported.

While we would have expected a more heartfelt apology, we're just hoping Moss really feels that way.

The 35-year-old English Rose isn't only making headlines with her skinny sentiments, she recently threw a model-themed birthday party for Jude Law's eight-year old daughter. And we thought Kate started young.

The fashionable twin flaunted blue and green streaks in her hair for a Tim Burton tribute at The Museum of Modern Art on November 17.

Olsen's wildy-colored locks instantly reminded us of a model who strutted in Proenza Schouler's Spring 2010 runway show with sea green hair. But the designer-entrepreneur-actress added a feminine touch with loose, tousled waves to frame her rosy cheeks and pink lips.

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which will be broadcast December 1 on CBS, was taped yesterday in New York City and the lingerie giant pulled out all the stops.

An elaborate stage played host to dozens of the best bodies in the world, plus the Black Eyed Peas rocked two songs and Fergie proved she can flaunt a hard body with the best of 'em.

A live performance of "Boom Boom Pow" opened the show as model Alessandra Ambrosio showed off chiseled abs in head-to-toe neon pink latex, kicking off the Sci-Fi-themed group of lingerie, aptly titled 'Star Trooper'. Accessories included metal shoulder pads and even clear astronaut bubble helmets (think: Lady Gaga).

There were four other themes including: 'All Aboard,' which featured classy travel style (complete with dancing bellhops); 'Romantic Journey,' which featured glamorous lingerie (complete with a choir); 'Pink Planet,' which featured the young and colorful Pink collection (complete with a giant inflatable version of its polka dot dog mascot) and an ethereal 'Enchanted Forest' set led by Heidi Klum.

The supermodel surprised audiences by walking the runway -- it was previously reported that Klum would serve as host only -- in an artfully disheveled corset dress. And while it was more coverage than we're used to seeing her in, she revealed an amazing post-baby body.

Other fan favorites included VS vets Marissa Miller (in "the" Damiani Fantasy diamond-studded bra), Doutzen Kroes, Selita Ebanks and Miranda Kerr, along with the new bombshells of the brand who we reported on last week: Chanel Iman in her VS catwalk debut, Candice Swanepoel, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Lindsay Ellingson (Emanuela de Paula didn't walk).

Front-row celebs included a tuxedo-clad Jay-Z, Zac Posen, Michelle Trachtenberg and Christian Siriano.

Just in time for the holidays, Lucky Magazine has launched a fashion and beauty e-commerce section, shopping.luckymag.com.

Instead of aiming to be a comprehensive shopping destination, the site -- like the magazine itself -- is built around its editors' constantly updated choices of what's best when it comes to all things fashionable and fabulous.

"We really wanted to do this e-commerce site to bring readers our edit of what was out there in online shopping," Kim France, Lucky's editor in chief, who presented the new site to a handful of influential web editors last night at Lucky's New York offices. "This was an opportunity to link in all of the great sites we shop with and get them under one tent for our editors to go out there and do a big edit of what we really like."

The site includes more than 40 retailers and over 450 labels, which amounts to a well-curated selection of over 86,000 items from the realms of clothing, accessories, and beauty. When you type in a search, the results will begin with Lucky's editors' top picks in that category. In addition, hot deals and new arrivals are spotlighted daily.

"You can not only buy things but really hear the editors' voices and see what our favorite picks are," says Mary Gail Pezzimenti, Luckymag.com's online director. "We really do all the hard work of finding the best sales, deals, and picks."

Although the initial list of retailers and brands (which includes the likes of Marc Jacobs, Phillip Lim, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and many more) is vast, more names will gradually be added to the site's selection. Plans are also in the works to integrate shopping.luckymag.com into Lucky's (admittedly addictive) i-phone application.

"I feel confident that if you're a Lucky fan, you'll be a fan of this," France says.

The final episode of "Project Runway" Season Six is upon us and nerves are showing for the remaining three women in the competition: Irina Shabayeva, Althea Harper and Carol Hannah Whitfield.

There's still much work to be done and little time to do it, especially with the surprise 13th look challenge added with little notice. Whitfield is quite ill and at one point breaks into tears and collapses into assistant Christopher Straub's arms, sobbing, "This isn't how it's supposed to go." Even the usually cool Shabayeva is looking frayed around the edges.

As for Harper, there are still echoes of her copycatting Shabayeva when Tim Gunn questions her choice of messy makeup. "That sounds like Irina's," Gunn says as Shabayeva just rolled her eyes.

But the petty battles get quickly lost in the chaotic packing up of garments, shoes and accessories. "If you forget one thing, it can be disastrous," Whitfield said, who has bravely muscled through the last days.

As Gunn says, "This is a 'make it work' moment."

On show day, the alarm goes off at 3 a.m. and designer head out to Fashion Week's Bryant Park for an early morning of getting models ready. But all that advance time didn't help out much in the end, when Gunn loses it when models are not even close to being done at showtime. "They should all be in their looks by now. They should be lining up," he says frantically.

Somehow it all comes together. And the audience is ready, including Heidi Klum, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia sitting front row, of course.

Harper showed first and sent her sci-fi, yet very wearable looks down the runway, blending body-hugging knits, tailored suits and big sweaters with spunk.

Following her, Whitfield came out giggling and was back to her old self, sending out enough draped and ruffled dresses and gowns -- including a stunning teal jersey gown as her 13th look -- to satisfy even the girliest of girls.

Lastly, Shabayeva introduced her collection as survival and comfort gear for the modern New York City woman. The looks were dark, warrior-like and brooding, but with surprising touches like equestrian-style caps and whimsical T-shirts.

The crowd went wild for all three collections. But back in LA for the final word, the judges, including Klum, Garcia, Kors and guest Suzy Menkes, fashion editor of the International Herald Tribune, were both congratulatory and cautionary.

Whitfield was praised for her impeccable tailoring and use of color, but chastised for her lack of continuity. Harper won kudos for her streetwise sportswear, but criticized for not telling a tale with her clothing line.

And Shabayeva had the best sense of showmanship and overall feel of a collection, but was taken to task for her been-there, done-that warrior woman looks and too much black. Garcia in particular, was very disapproving. "Black doesn't look good in editorial," she frowned.

It really wasn't clear who the judges would choose, but they went with Shabayeva in the end, who certainly deserved the win for her consistent quality in competition and a collection that had guts and elan.

The cool Shabayeva broke down in tears, as did her father, and everyone, even tough Garcia, was crying at the show's end.

All the single ladies, all the single ladies: The male stars of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" were out and about in NYC tonight for the Cinema Society and D&G's special screening. While Robert Pattinson arrived just in time to duck in as the screening started, Kellan Lutz and Taylor Lautner were more punctual, and they made time to chat with us.

So let's get to it. Kellan Lutz/Emmett fans, listen up! The hunky star revealed what outfit he finds sexiest on a woman, and it's not what you'd ever expect:

StyleList: So, the Victoria's Secret fashion show is tonight...

Lutz: I know! I'm bummed!

StyleList: Aside from lingerie, what's the sexiest thing a woman can wear?

Lutz: My clothes.

StyleList: Are we talking a t-shirt, boxers, what specifically?

Lutz: Like a long business shirt, maybe just that if it covers enough. I like when girls wear like, my sweatpants, my Ugg shoes or something like that, and my tank tops, t-shirts.

So there you have it! Now, just in case boyish Taylor Lautner/Jacob is more your speed, here's what floats his boat:

StyleList: What do you look for in a girl?

Lautner: It's pretty simple. Somebody who can be themselves, not put on a show, and totally let loose.

Beachy waves aren't just for the summer time. And at last night's GQ "Men of the Year" Party, Amanda Seyfried showed that this classic 'do works in fall, too.

The "Mama Mia!" star channeled the '60s with her wavy strands, pulling back pieces at the crown to show off her trademark fresh face.

To mimic Seyfried's perfect beachy look, celebrity stylist Danielle Caputo suggests curling hair away from the face. "It creates a windswept effect and helps keep it from falling forward," she said. "Use a salt-water spray (which helps create that piece-y texture) at the roots and then all over to add texture."

What is it about rock stars that keeps them churning out offspring-turned-models? Oh yeah -- they procreate with the most beautiful women in the world.

The latest member in the beautiful rock royalty club is Zoe Kravitz -- daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet. Zoe is the newest face for Vera Wang Princess (a spot previously filled by Camilla Belle) and she fits the role perfectly. Think pretty but cool, and glamorous but in a slightly disheveled way.
