GET UPDATES FROM Steve Russell
Steve Russell joined the American Chemistry Council (ACC) in 1995 and currently serves as vice president of the Plastics Division, where he directs the Division’s innovative programs, scientific research and public outreach on the use of plastics as a sustainable materials choice. Much of Steve’s work focuses on innovative materials, consumer products and programs to significantly increase the recycling and recovery of plastics.

Previously, Steve served as ACC’s Senior Director for Health, Products and Science Policy. He also has participated in efforts to strengthen chemical management programs in the United States and abroad. Steve has distinguished himself by leading a multi-stakeholder initiative to make chemical safety information publicly available. The resulting program saved millions of dollars and prevented unnecessary animal testing, while providing the public with important safety data and other information on the most common chemicals in commerce.

A resident of the District of Columbia, Steve is a runner, an avid recycler and he freely admits to an obsession with the challenges of restoring the indoor and outdoor living spaces in his unique 1950s era postmodern home.

Steve earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas, and a JD from California Western School of Law. A long, long time ago.
