WELCOME TO FASHION WEEK
In the days leading up to our runway show, how do I measure time? By hours slept (or not), coconut waters drunk, reviews read, models seen, dresses hemmed and red licorice consumed.
It's a thrill to be a part of New York Fashion Week; it's equal parts spectator sport and team effort. My design team and I spend almost every waking hour together. And then on the runway, it's all over in about 12 minutes — a distillation of months of work in a few short minutes. I’m always excited to see my designer friends’ shows… as well as that other fashion show — the one that unfolds on the streets of NYC.

Every designer, editor and model has his or her own rituals and routines that get them through the week. On The Tory Blog, we asked Calvin Klein's Francisco Costa, Billy Reid and Robert Geller — all CFDA winners — about their late-night fixes. We talked to Alexis Bryan Morgan, Lucky's Executive Fashion Director, about what editors go through, and she shared her favorite Fashion Week memories (Paul McCartney singing!). Morwenna Lytton Cobbold, the triple threat model-photographer-dj, sent us her fashion playlist.
And because Fashion Week ends on Valentine's Day, we wanted to highlight couples that mix fashion and love. We heard from newlyweds Jeff Halmos and Lisa Mayock, of Shipley & Halmos and Vena Cava, respectively; accessories power couple Philip Crangi and Darren Spaziani (Giles & Brother and Proenza Schouler), and stylist/editor Alison Edmond and model/producer John Pearson.
My Valentine’s Day plan? I have a standing date with my three boys. Dinner at home watching a movie. Sounds perfect.
All the best,
