COLORED EYELINER

Colored Eyeliner

    Michael Kors Spring 2008
Kors' models glided down the runway with sunset inspired eye makeup centered around purple liner. Off the runway however, Alexander suggest ditching the shadow when wearing colored liner, "Let it stand alone, it has something to say!"

According to Alexander, "aubergines look beautiful with blue eyes. When colors have the same pantone they always work well together."

M.A.C Dual Edge Eye Pencil in Fab Orchid and Dash Lily, $17, www.maccosmetics.com, N.Y.C. Eyeliner Duet in Through the Storm, $2, www.newyorkcolor.com

Not quite ready to fully line your eyes in lavender? Try a purple mascara instead. Swiped over lashes this formula looks practically black, but in the bright light of spring it's purple undertones will give your eyes a rich glow.
Givenchy Captiv' Eyes in Purple Black, $25, www.sephora.com

From Lagerfeld to de La Prada to New Upc, the lime liners on the spring runway had us green with envy.

According to Alexander, if you have green or hazel eyes you shouldn't be afraid to go for a bright liner. Using an emerald shade will help bring out the jewel tones in your natural color. For dark eyed beauties, stick with earth tone shades of green like olive and ivy.
Wet n Wild Kohl Eyeliner in Cool Green, $1, www.walgreens.com, Rimmel Spark It Up! In Peridot,

For a more subtle way to bring the green shades of spring into your makeup palette try a shadow instead of a liner. A loose powder version like this one by Max Factor is a great choice because it can easily be mixed with another shadow allowing you to customize your color.
Max Factor Vivid Impact Eyeshadow Duo in Sultry Sage, $8, www.drugstore.com

    Ben Di Lisi Spring 2008
Red and hot pink liners are by far the most challenging beauty trend for spring. To pull it off Alexander says "the key is making sure that the pink or red shade is super bold. You don't want it to look like eye irritation!"

Ladies with hazel or brown eyes will have the most luck with this ruby pencil. If you are brave enough to go for a fiery eye "your lip should be natural. The modern technique is to use lip balm blended with a bit of concealer to tone down your lip color" says Alexander.
Manic Panic Eyeliner in Vampire Red, $7, www.manicpanic.biz

Red hot peepers are definitely not for everyone! To work this trend into your look try an extra bright blush or lip color instead.
    M.A.C Fafi Lipstick in Fun n' Sexy, $14, www.maccosmetics.com, M.A.C Powder Blush in Sweetness, $18, www.maccosmetics.com

    Diane Von Furstenberg Spring 2008
From the soft, subtle lines of DVF to the electric shades on the Blugirl runway in Milan, blue was the most common eyeliner in the Spring shows. As luck would have it, it's also the most versatile! From navy to baby blue, there is a shade that works for every eye color.

Does anyone else see the North American Union image in the front page photo of the model's eye? Maybe just a coindicence, but, submilinal advertizing does exist and is used all the time.

Good tips, these women are beautiful.

Gah- I hate when people say "people of colour". Everyone is "of colour". But, I get your point, Antoinette. There's plenty of makeup lines dedicated to darker skinned women. Try this site. http://beautytips.ygoy.com/makeup-tips/dark-skin.php <---I particularly find copper tones gorgeous on darker skinned women.
