  Wish you could add life to your straight locks without cutting or coloring them? A little curl can go a long way when it comes to adding a playful boost to your look. Celebs change their looks all the time with the help of beauty teams, but it's just as easy to add some waves at home. We asked curl master and celeb stylist Christo for the 101 on how celebs add curl and make the most of their natural waves.

  "Drew Barrymore has naturally wavy hair so her curls look great!" Christo says about style chameleon Barrymore. Follow these easy steps to get her look: Part hair into 5 sections (ear-to-ear in 3 sections and one each for the nape and crown). Apply a curling iron to the sections, followed by a spray gel for a longer hold and to shape the curls. Pin up the curls, spritz with hair spray and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Remove pins and break up curls with your fingers to loosen the style. Voila!

  "Carrie Underwood can pull off the curly look perfectly," says Christo of the county music star. "However, her swept bangs are a little too straight." Consider adding a light wave to your bangs and sweeping them to the side for a more natural. And always make sure your hair is in good shape before considering curl. "When going curly, you have to use heat styling tools, and your hair will look fried and damaged if it's already dry."

  "The curls are just right and help her pull off a sexy, goddess look," Christo says of Beyonce's luxurious waves. The most important styling tool for achieving such loose waves is a curling iron. "If you want tight curls you should use a small diameter curling iron, and for loose curls use a larger diameter. I prefer a ceramic ion curling iron as it does not cause a lot of damage."

  "Nicole Kidman's hair has a naturally wavy texture that can easily take curls," Christo explains. But beware the curl malfunction here. "This is a sexy wavy look, but an incomplete look. The curls look unnatural, as if the curling iron shape is still there. You have to run a finger through the curl to loosen it out and give it a natural look."

  Make sure your hair length suits a curly look. "Eva Longoria's hair looks amazing with glamorous curls. You can see that the length is perfect," Christo says. "It's important to have the right haircut so that the curls can cascade and frame the face, especially for women with long, square and round shaped faces. Oval and triangle shaped faces can get away with long layers as long as the hair density is not very thick and course."

  Sarah Jessica Parker wears her hair straight so often that it's easy to forget she's naturally curly. But when she does lets her waves show, her look is always chic thanks to the right products. "Key products are a good spray gel with strong hold (especially for those with course straight hair), a light finishing spray and a spray shine."

  "Jennifer Lopez has the perfect pin curl here, but her stylists should have run fingers through it a bit and made the curls look naturally glamorous," Christo says of Lopez's 60's style curls. When adding curl to fine hair like Jen's, "use very little spray gel and a curling iron on a medium heat setting so that you don't end up damaging your hair. Thick hair can take the heat of the higher setting on the curling iron. Don't be afraid to use as much hair spray as is needed!"

  "Scarlett Johansson looks amazing in these sexy, flawless and well-balanced waves. This look lifts the cheek bones and makes her eyes sparkle," Christo says. Remember that super straight hair is course in texture and has no natural wave, so when attempting to add wave to it, "it's important to have your curling iron set on high. Lightly spray each curl with a spray gel after curling so that the curls will hold all day."

  Don't be afraid to loosen tight curls for a different look. "Halle Berry is a beautiful woman," says Christo. "This curly look is okay, but not the best that I have seen on her. It would be a more effective look if she had a better hair cut and if the curls were a little bit looser."
