Sophie Theallet wins the 2009 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund

French-born designer (and Michelle Obama favorite) Sophie Theallet took home the coveted CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund prize last night in New York City. The accolade, which was presented by Lanvin's Alber Elbaz and actress Nicole Kidman, capped off a months long crusade in which ten finalists (including Natalie Chanin, today's judge for our America's Most Stylish Blogger contest) presented their collections to a panel of industry insiders. read more

Fashion's Night Out to Return Next Year

New York City 'Fashion Incubator'

Being a young designer in New York City just got a little bit easier. (Not that is could have gotten any harder.) Mayor Bloomberg announced plans for a 10,000 square foot "fashion incubator" to nurture start-up sartorial businesses. While there will be a limited number of spaces available at the 209 West 38th Street, fourth floor location, the rent will be an emerging designer-friendly $1,500/month -- sadly, for NYC, that's a great deal for office space -- almost half the going market rate. read more
