Everyone wants to know about the trends. Edgy or sweet? Muted or Bright? Menswear or Loungewear? Plaids or Prints? The answer to all is a resounding "yes."

As another season of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week threatens to speed by, I like to think that I've given renewed meaning to the expression "back-to-back." In the past four days alone, I've seen the work of countless friends and colleagues march down the runways. I've made pre-show appearances backstage, post-show appearances at evening soirees, and later this week, I'll make my debut on-stage, in partnership with the Moms and my unabashed role model, Iman, together with whom I'm hosting Strut: the Fashionable Moms Show.

While the rest of the city continues to celebrate New York's crowning achievement winning the Superbowl, those in the fashion industry have just embarked upon their own festivities. Yesterday marked day one of Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week, and appropriately so, New York Giants' own Victor Cruz (the talented wide receiver who sealed Sunday's victory) joined me in unveiling the fourth season at Lincoln Center. For the next seven days, the industry will flock to the historic Lincoln Center to view the Fall/Winter 2012 collections of over 100 designers and brands. With seven days of shows every half-hour, even Victor agreed that Mercedes-Benx Fashion Week was nothing short of four-quarters on the football field.

There is no easy or "right" way to navigate the 10th anniversary of 9/11. There isn't a proper way for the country to do it. As recent debate has indicated, there isn't a perfect way for the City to do it.

For most of the Western world, January 1st marks the official onset of a new year. But for we who work, toil and triumph in the fashion industry, nothing spells fresh start quite the way September does.
