While it may still feel like winter, one of our favorite brands, Madewell has already got us thinking about next fall! Last week, Madewell unveiled its fall collection and it appears they've been able to take their classic staples and make them even more desirable.

When it comes to the inspiration behind the collection, there is one man whose unique approach to design has made him an integral part of the Madewell name. Somsack Sikhounmuong, Madewell's Creative Director has spent countless hours roaming the streets of New York City and beyond looking for the next big trend. "We decided to bring our girl home to New York City and create pieces that fit effortlessly into her busy schedule and across the neighborhoods and cultural tribes of the city. From the quiet streets of Tribeca to the bustle of the subway system, the iron work of the Brooklyn bridge to the autumn florals of the highline, the stoic canyons of midtown to the romantic cobblestone streets of the Brooklyn water front, the city – like this collection – is sexy, storied and full of life.

The collection itself is full of gorgeous neutrals with a darker palette infused into the designs. When asked about the collection Somsack remarked, "always keeping in mind the practicality that a New Yorker looks for, we focused on pieces that provide coating or protection. Moto and military silhouettes continuously inspire us, for Fall we paired them with sporty tees, sweatpants, bomber jackets and sneakers."

When it comes to the trends, Somsack thinks the luxe sweatshirt is making a serious comeback. According to Somsack, you can also be on the lookout for "boxier cropped sweaters with high waisted jeans, oversize coats with longer skirts, chunkier shoes and longer tunic shirts." Check, check, and re-check!
