An all-American look (he even uses the U.S. colors in his logo!) is exactly what you'll achieve when you dress in designer Tommy Hilfiger's clothing.
He describes his clothes as "classic American cool," a refreshing twist on preppy fashion. Born the second child (of nine!) in upstate New York, he knew he wanted to have a unique career by the time he was in high school in 1969. Clearly an ambitions young man, he opened a small chain of shops, titled "People's Place," with a mere $150, and planned to bring high fashion to his small town.
He moved to NYC in 1979 to pursue this career further, and launched his line in 1985. He took a daring move with advertising: calling himself one of the top 4 designers for men at the very beginning of his career, but the risk paid off.
He would, indeed, become a household name. He's been in the industry for 25 years, but we think he's changed it forever. Having won awards from Parsons, GQ Magazine and the CFDA, he quickly established himself a fashion staple in American design.
Not only does Tommy Hilfiger give a twist and bit of an edge to preppy looks, he designs with the every day man and woman in mind – fashionably of course. He designs for you and me, and I know I have some favorites from his work, and I'm definitely not alone in my love for his designs.
