If we learned anything from watching Meet the Parents (too many times) it's this: you're better off carrying on. That's especially the case if you're not headed to your own home for the holidays. Traveling to your significant other's (friend's, roommate's, etc.) for Thanksgiving presents a ton of packing challenges - Is it OK to wear my pajamas to breakfast? Do I have to wear a dress for Thanksgiving dinner?

Read on for our tips for efficient packing, then click through for the 14 items to have in your suitcase.

While it's tempting to show off all of your new purchases and favorite items, don't sacrifice space for a single amazing piece you can only wear once. Instead, look to tops, dresses, and tees that you can wear more than once and go well with the other items in your bag.

If something wrinkles easily, leave it at home. Look to easy fabrics and finishes that will roll and fold easily into your suitcase.

Know the power of great accessories. A great pair of earrings or a pretty necklace can take a sweater or top from day to night in a flash and take up a tiny amount of space in your bag.
