Red carpet season is upon us, which might be why we have gowns on the brain. So, while browsing the couture shows that walked in Paris on Wednesday, it's fitting that we immediately swooned upon seeing Elie Saab's newest collection.

The designer, who is well-known for dressing A-list stars for awards shows, presented a wide-ranging collection that's easy to get lost in. Composed of princess-worthy gowns, it included plenty of sparkle in a varied color palette, as well as structural skirts, interesting shapes and delicate floral appliques. Some of our favorite looks were the floaty, Grecian gowns made of silk chiffon, one of which had a watercolor ombré skirt that came as a bit of a surprise. It seems nearly impossible to appreciate the intricacies of the collection by simply looking at photos, but either way, it sure is pretty.

While the show didn't go off without a hitch - a model in a sheer embroidered gown took a tumble on the runway - it provided us with a much-needed dose of glamour this afternoon.

Read on for a selection of some of the dreamiest dresses from the show.
