Born on January 17, 1964, Michelle Obama grew up in the South Side of Chicago with her older brother Craig, her mother Marion, and her father Fraser Robinson, III. From a young age Michelle loved to learn and graduated from her high school with honors. She went on to attend Princeton University for her undergraduate degree, and then Harvard University for Law School. Graduating from Harvard in 1988, she then met her future husband, Barack Obama, while working as a summer associate at a Chicago law firm. The two married in October 1992.
Michelle Obama first caught the eye of the national audience while at her husband's side when he delivered a high-profile speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2004. From then on, all eyes were on Michelle and Barack Obama.
Michelle's influence on fashion is unparalleled. Similar to the Duchess of Cambridge, Michelle seems to have the "Kate-effect," meaning that whatever she wears (or whoever she wears) becomes an instant success. We've seen her wear a range of clothing: from classic sheath dresses by Tracey Reese and retailer J.Crew, to a casual sweater while shopping at Target. There is something very real about Michelle, and we can't get enough of her attainable style.
We can't believe this mother of two and First Lady of the United States is 49, but we know there is more to come, and much more fashion to obsess over!
