Kate and Laura Mulleavy are sisters and fashion designers (and MAKERS!): the brilliant minds behind the edgy, romantic, other-worldly pieces of the brand Rodarte. They started in 2005, moving to New York City with just 10 pieces.

It didn't take long for them to receive a phone call from WWD, and a few days later they were on the cover! Not long after that they were having a meeting with Vogue's Anna Wintour, and their careers took off. They explain how their West Coast upbringing surrounded by a mixture of punks, skaters, and hippies, as well as their love for horror films served as inspiration for future collections.

In 2008 they created a collection based upon horror films and the ballet, and a couple years later were recruited to create the costumes for the Academy Award nominated film "Black Swan." Obviously... they nailed it.
