How to Wear Snake Print and Color-Blocking

HuffPost Social Reading

I recently wrote about how three spring trends -- color-blocking, the color red and animal print -- have evolved for fall. I saw all three looks in action on Sept. 7, 2011, when 330 fashion bloggers kicked off New York Fashion Week at the sixth Independent Fashion Bloggers conference, held at Milk Studios in Manhattan. I first realized red pants were a hot look at the February IFB conference, and there were still red pants a-plenty. But I was more interested in the two newer looks: snake print and color-blocking. The former has taken over from leopard as the must-have animal pattern and it seems especially appropriate for fall's more textured and luxurious fabrics.

Meanwhile, the vivid color-blocking looks celebrated the end of summer. While it's always good to see the freshest styles in magazine editorials, advertisements and store windows, it can be even more inspiring to observe how people wear the trends in everyday life. Here is a slideshow of bloggers spotted both at the conference and on their own blogs.

So much snake-y slytherin goodness. I love colorblocking too, but I'm happy to see the revival of the snake!

That green bag should be a dress! I don't know how, but it should be a dress. A snake skin mullet dress of awesome!
